Doll Club Classes for Children
The town of Riverdale Park offers free doll making classes to local children aged 8-14. Aunt Emily teaches the art of making early 1800s "Bed Post Dolls." Dolls are made from wood finials (originally, the tops of old bed posts were used), with hand painted faces and handmade mohair wigs from goats and sheep. She works closely with the children and loves seeing how crafting the doll transforms the child - unknowingly, the child has increased the development of their life skills of patience, attention to detail, coming up with their own ideas, developing better motor skills, bonding, peer critiquing, peer acceptance and respect for others.
Classes are free and are held Sunday from 3:00pm-5:00pm. For more information or to sign up as a student or volunteer, please use the contact button on the homepage or click the envelope at the top right of the page.

Doll Houses and Miniatures Classes for Children and Adults
Aunt Emily also teaches the art of crafting a doll house, including the miniature furnishings. The houses are one inch scale, three stories high and sit on a drawer with a regular lock to store extra miniatures. The drawer can also be used as a side yard for doll house entertaining.
As part of the class, students are provided with an all wood kit containing the house and the furniture. The students design a business on the first floor, a studio apartment on the second floor and whatever they desire on the third floor. Adult classes and parent/child classes are available for a fee. If you would like more information, please use the contact button on the homepage or click the envelope at the top right of the page.
